Saddles 1&2 Portages

Saddles 1&2 are 1.7km long in total. These portages not only cut out a huge section of the Duzi River, but also a fairly treacherous section. After the first saddle, cross the river in your boat and take out on the opposite bank for the second saddle portage. The paths on the downhill sections are steep and narrow, so watch your footing. Generally the surface is not muddy as the paths are cut into the gravel beds, common to this area.
